BAE Batterien GmbH participated in the SMA Training Seminar “Off-grid, Intelligent PV Mini-grids based on 100 % solar power for rural electrification in Mexico”, organized in Mexico City on the 28th and 29th May 2013. This Seminar intended to contribute to the further implementation of high-quality and innovative technological solutions in more than 50 thousand communities dispersed in remote areas in Mexico. More than 40 professionals representing the key players in the PV market in Mexico, including a good number of engineers from C.F.E. attended to the two-day seminar, which included also an important session about batteries, since they are a critical component in these systems.
The Seminar was hold as part of the MEXICO SOLAR project, which was established by the consortium of SMA Solar Technology AG and Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and its associated partners BAE Batterien GmbH and Greenergy Energía no Convencional. All together implemented together with C.F.E. Comisión Federal de Electricidad a pilot project, which functions as a demonstration and knowledge transfer center. The project is co-financed by German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). BAE´s Area Sales Manager for Spain and Latin America, Ruth Pérez de Azpeitia, spoke about the existing battery technologies using Lead Acid and how important is to identify the right one according to the specific end-user requirements. Applicable internationals standards in photovoltaic installations where also covered in that session. In her presentation Ruth Perez de Azpeitia showed outstanding examples, where the premium BAE tubular plate batteries, both vented and VRLA GEL, are successfully operating since many years.
The participants had the chance to share impressions and ideas during the lunch and strengthen ties for the development of the renewable energies in Mexico.
