A business delegation of seven German companies and representatives of the Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG and the German Wind Energy Association (Bundesverband Windenergie e.V.) visited Bolivia from September 11th to 15th, 2017. The delegation comprised of enterprises from the renewable energy industry sector covering a range of premium quality products, technologies and services for decentralized energy supply in remote areas by means of wind and solar energies.
The German business delegation was conducted on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) and in partnership with RENAC. As local implementing partner the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Bolivia (AHK Bolivia), kindly supported by German Society for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit - GIZ) and the German Embassy, facilitated business meetings with Bolivian counterparts, as well as with relevant government institutions and ministries and organized a high-level sector conference in La Paz.
During the well-attended conference (with more than 100 participants) organized by AHK Bolivia, the German business delegation made use of further opportunities to meet with high-level stakeholders on 12th September, 2017. The Interim Deputy Minister for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Marisol Ayala, participated at the conference presenting the program to transform the energy sector in Bolivia by 20% of energy produced by renewables energies by 2025 and highlighted projects like the 27 MW wind farm in Qollpana and 60 kW solar hybrid plant in El Espino which is equipped with BAE batteries.
BAE entered into the Bolivian market in 2015 by appointing ENERSOL S.A. as its representative and has developed and important customer base and significant reference list since then. BAE´s Sales Manager for Latin America, Ruth Pérez de Azpeitia, spoke during the conference about the background of this success. More specifically she explained about the requirements and critical aspects for storage technology in professional off-grid solar / hybrid plants: Reliable premium quality Lead batteries, suitable plate technology, service cycle life according to applicable IEC standards, temperature effect, sizing and maintenance aspects to make it possible to effectively store energy generated from renewable sources. Last but not least, a number of worldwide projects in rural electrification, telecom and oil & gas platforms, where BAE PVS and PVV cells have been successfully implemented, were presented.
