On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Peter-Behrens-Building a street festival took place along the Wilhelminenhofstraße based on the motto of electro mobility called „Pit Stop“. In the past the Peter-Behrens-Building was a “state-of-the-art” car manufacturing plant, of the Nationale Automobilgesellschaft“ (NAG), a subsidiary company of the former AEG. In this building the first electrical cars and electrical trucks were built in the beginning of the last century. Nowaday the Peter-Behrens-Building is protected as a historic monument and counts to one of the most important monuments of Berlin’s industry architecture.
The motto of electro mobility was shown significantly during the street festival and therefore a motorcade of vintage cars and the latest electro vehicles took place and were presented along the fairground. In addition, numerous shops along the street opened their doors for the visitors which could gain an impression of all festivities and the transition which has taken place in the Wilhelminenhofstraße also because of the settlement in 2009 of the University of Applied Sciences HTW.
BAE took the celebration and the stress festival as well to celebrate its own festivity with their employees, which took this opportunity to show their families their workplace, while the kids could play at the bouncy castle. Moreover they could take part at the competition the „Hot Wire“, where the steadiest and quickest hand was rewarded with a helicopter round flight above Berlin.
